2026 Next Gen: Tyler Duplantis
Tyler Duplantis is one of the 2026 Next Gens, as nominated by Groups Today readers for making a difference in the industry with their fresh, progressive perspective.
With a bachelor’s degree in public relations, a master’s in marketing and communications, and as a proud tribal citizen of the United Houma Nation, Tyler Duplantis brings a wealth of experience to his role as Destination Sales Manager for Explore Houma.
“My love for the group travel industry began during COVID-19. I’ve always been a people person and have a deep appreciation for the power of storytelling,” Duplantis shared. “While working alongside my tribe during that time, I discovered a passion for preserving our stories and sharing my love for our destination with visitors from near and far. Growing up in a close-knit community where culture flows through every bayou, I’ve come to cherish how group tours allow me to see our home through the eyes of visitors, it’s like experiencing it for the very first time all over again.”
Passionate about his community and the state of Louisiana, Duplantis strives to create authentic, meaningful experiences for every visitor while connecting with people from around the world and learning their unique stories. He finds it inspiring to see the drive and passion that everyone in this industry brings to the table.

“It’s easy to form genuine connections with people who share the same love for promoting their destinations,” Duplantis said. “Along the way, I’ve made lasting memories, meaningful friendships, and realized just how big my Louisiana family has become since joining Explore Houma three years ago. Our state is filled with incredible individuals who work tirelessly to make every visitor feel welcomed, like part of our big gumbo pot of a family. I owe much of my success to them, as I’ve learned so much from their dedication and spirit.”
His favorite accolades so far include Destinations International’s 30 Under 30 and a Southeast Tourism Society Shining Example Award.
“The 30 Under 30 program champions emerging destination leaders, cultivating a global network that drives innovation and long-term success. Through it, I built meaningful connections with leaders from around the world, bonding over a shared passion for tourism,” Duplantis explained. “The STS Shining Example Awards, recognizing outstanding contributions to travel and tourism across the Southeast since 1985, affirmed that the work I’ve done, and the stories I’ve shared have made a real impact and resonated with people far and wide. Through STS and Destination International, I know that the tourism industry is in amazing hands, and I can’t wait to see the impacts that they will have for the years to come.”
When looking ahead to the future, Duplantis’ goals center on continuing to work closely with his tribe to ensure that their destination thrives as a hub for cultural tourism.

“I’m passionate about sharing the stories, traditions, and unique culture of our bayou community with visitors from near and far, helping them feel a genuine sense of belonging and connection to our bayous,” Duplantis shared. “I also hope to build stronger collaborations with surrounding destinations and advocate for communities worldwide, because I truly believe that we are strong when we work together—sharing knowledge, experiences, and a commitment to preserving and celebrating our heritage.
“Lastly, I hope to mentor and inspire the next generation, equipping youth with the skills and knowledge they need to enter this industry and make meaningful, lasting impacts on the future of tourism. Laissez Les Bon Temps Rouler!”
