DC to Host Travel Professionals Month in August

Washington, D.C., invites all travel professionals to join us August 1-31, 2014, for our annual appreciation month. DC Backyard Bound Program a Success

SYTA Youth Foundation partners with the American Experience Foundation to invest in youth with an inaugural one-day field trip to experience some of the city's iconic sites and attractions.

With the help from the SYTA Youth Foundation and other partners, Destination DC hosted its inaugural DC Backyard Bound Program, June 13, 2014. Forty students from Kelly Miller Middle School in the Washington, D.C., metro area were selected as the first recipients of the DC Backyard Bound program and granted a one-day field trip to experience some of D.C.'s iconic sites and attractions.

Pam Inman Appointed NTA President

NTA has appointed Pam Inman, IOM, CAE, CMHS, president of the association. Inman brings decades of experience in travel, tourism, and hospitality to the organization. She will split her time between Lexington, Kentucky, and Washington, D.C., and officially assume her role as president in September.

Anti-Spam Law Takes Effect in Canada July 1

Similar to the CAN-SPAM law in the United States, Canada's anti-spam law prohibits the sending of any electronic message that encourages participation in a commercial activity without prior consent, regardless of whether there is an expectation of profit. Commercial messages include marketing or promotional e-mails about new programs, events, or publications, for example.

Air Canada Joins TSA Expedited Screening Program

The Department of Homeland Security announced the expansion of the Transportation Security Administration's expedited screening program, TSA Pre✓™, to include eligible customers of Air Canada, the first international carrier to participate.
