Shear Madness in St. Jacobs

From a world-famous farmers market, outlet shopping and delicious dining to a murder mystery comedy to "dye" for ... St. Jacobs, Ontario, has plenty to offer groups looking for a hair-raising adventure.

The comedy whodunit Shear Madness is onstage now at the St. Jacobs Schoolhouse Theatre, operated by Drayton Entertainment, one of Canada's most successful professional theatre companies. Listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as North America's longest-running play, this hilarious detective story plays eight shows per week until December 23, in one of Ontario's most popular tourism destinations.

Hairdresser Tony Whitcomb and manicurist Barbara DeMarco comb through the tasks of a normal day until concert pianist Isabel Czerny is murdered. Tony, Barbara and the Shear Madness customers—Eleanor Shubert, Eddie Lawrence, Nick Rosetti and Mikey Thomas—are all suspects. But whodunit? Groups will witness the fun and take a stab at solving the crime!

Shear Madness has broken numerous box office records during its continuing (and unprecedented) three-decade run at the John F. Kennedy Centre in Washington D.C. Its success, in part, is due to the interactive nature of the show that brings audiences back again and again to help solve the crime.

In addition to its tenure in Washington, Shear Madness has been running for 38 years in Boston, where it was voted "Best Comedy of the Year" seven times by The Boston Globe, and named "Best Play of the Year" by both The Chicago Sun-Times and The Philadelphia Enquirer. Along with its North American success, Shear Madness has become an international sensation: It has been translated into 10 foreign languages and played in Barcelona, Buenos Aires, Madrid, Paris, Reykjavik, Rome, Tel Aviv, Melbourne, Johannesburg, Seoul and many other places around the globe.

This fantastic show isn't the only reason to visit St. Jacobs. When planning a trip to the theatre—which is a sight to see in and of itself—make time to explore everything St. Jacobs Country has to offer, including the world-famous farmers market, fabulous outlet shops, the quaint village full of boutiques, the renowned Stone Crock Bakery and other delectable dining.

Shear Madness tickets for groups of 20 or more are $37 dollars plus tax. Start planning your next group trip at Drayton Entertainment.
