Walking Dead in the Workplace

Have you ever been frustrated by someone who isn't pulling his or her own weight at work? According to the Gallup (2013) Study on Employee Engagement, only about thirty percent of employees were engaged, leaving seventy percent categorized as not engaged.

The walking dead, also called disengaged employees, are people who don't care for their company and have no intention of helping it grow. Essentially, disengaged employees are "checked out." They're shuffling through their workday, putting time—but not energy or passion—into their work. You know these employees. You probably have stories of working alongside of these zombie-like individuals, or being served by one at a store.
