In The Mountains: Deep Creek Lake
Groups can now experience the cool mountain waters of Deep Creek Lake in the mountains of Western Maryland. With over 65 miles of shoreline, what better way to escape the summer heat or take in beautiful fall foliage than with a guided pontoon boat tour?
Big puffy clouds and blue sky are overhead as a kayaker lazily paddles by. A fisherman casts his line with hopes of catching a largemouth bass. Kids squeal with delight as they zip over wakes on a tube.
Multiple pontoon boats will greet groups by the water's edge as they head out for a cruise that will be sure to delight riders of all ages. Add a visit to the Deep Creek Discovery Center, filled with hands-on exhibits that showcase local natural resources including our flora, fauna, wildlife, cultural and historical heritage. Enjoy a stroll to the aviary, where groups will meet some feathered friends who have been rescued from injuries in the wild and raised by hand.
Pair this excursion with other exciting area activities, such as a scenic chairlift ride, a visit to a local cheesemaking creamery or the ever-popular Candyland—with over 700 varieties of candies to choose from. Groups can add a day and enjoy even more of the area: Explore museums including a restored B&O train station, artisan glass-blowing and surrounding small towns. Groups can get a true small-town vibe by exploring quaint shops, picking up fresh produce from local farmer's markets and dining at area restaurants. A visit to the art gallery shop or the artisan village rounds out a perfect getaway.
