Top of the Roster

Right out of law school, Floyd Morris, Esq., worked for three years as an insurance defense attorney and sports agent in New York City.

He quickly discovered he wanted to focus closely on both his love of sports and contracts, which led him to TravelAdvocates, where he's been now for six years.

"Robert Miller, president and owner of TravelAdvocates, and I went to law school together, so I was able to transition into handling the contracts for collegiate teams at TravelAdvocates," said Morris, who grew into handling contracts for all types of groups not long after.

"I'm always interested in the new ways in which contracting is being done, by both our clients and the hotel industry."

Morris reviews and negotiates more than 2,000 contracts a year for TravelAdvocates clients, ensuring the best terms and conditions. Contracts have always been his passion and he appreciates the opportunity to make that his career.

"As the world of travel evolves between different product offerings, new ways to book hotels, and the ever-changing protections needed for clients, there are always new terms, clauses, and negotiation strategies to learn—which keeps the job fun and engaging."

Morris is particularly proud of his experience handling negotiations for the Rose Bowl and Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

"These are two major events—that sometimes require complex negotiation—and we have been successful in partnering with schools and bands for these events for the past three years, which has been very rewarding."

When not working, Morris is fortunate to coach football with Weehawken High School and basketball with King Hoops NYC.

Floyd Morris, Esq. is one of the 2019 Top 10 Next Gens, as nominated by Groups Today readers for making a difference in the industry with his fresh, progressive perspective. Click here to see the January/February magazine.
