When speaking on what drew him to the travel industry, Christopher Siravo, CTP, said it all started when he was studying public relations at Rhode Island College and accepted an internship with the Providence Warwick Convention & Visitors Bureau.
"I instantly fell in love with the industry and knew I wanted to work in the hospitality field in some capacity."
After graduating in 2015, Siravo accepted a full-time position in Group Sales for the Newport Mansions of the Preservation Society of Newport County.
"While attending my first tour and travel tradeshow in Kentucky, I knew I had found my calling: travel and creating unforgettable experiences for those visiting Newport, Rhode Island."
Having joined Discover Newport in January 2018, Siravo concentrates on generating business from the group market and recently earned the Certified Tour Professional designation, the hallmark of professional competency and packaged travel industry excellence issued by the National Tour Association (NTA).
"Building lifelong relationships with industry colleagues around the country and beyond has helped me grow both personally and professionally."
Siravo adds that he keeps an open-minded approach to the industry and is always eager to learn from industry veterans, especially those in leadership positions.
When asked about his favorite career accomplishments so far, Siravo is quick to mention being named among the Groups Today Top 10 Next Gens, along with being an ABA 2019 Marketplace Advisory Committee member. Siravo also excels personally, being proud of the purchase of his first home at age 25.
