Ballet Experiences Across North America

While theaters across America host productions of classic favorites, there are original productions, modern fairytale and classic novel interpretations, and world-class orchestral accompaniment that make the ballet an exciting theater experience. Here are some of the top ballet opportunities in North America.

American Ballet Theatre

ABT, celebrating its seventy-fifth anniversary, calls New York City home for eight weeks of the year and travels the United States and the globe for the remainder. This year's offerings include the Liam Scarlett premiere of Jerome Robbins' Fancy Free, a 1944 ode to three sailors out on the town; Gaîté Parisienne, featuring high-kicking can-can girls bedecked in Christian Lacroix costumes; and Seven Sonatas, whose delicate keyboard sonatas of Domenico Scarlatti couple with Alexei Ratmansky's choreography. For groups and families, ABT offers special children's performances, pre-performance workshops, and VIP experiences.

Houston Ballet

From Shakespeare to Elton John, Houston Ballet celebrates good art in its many forms. From A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Romeo & Juliet, to Love Lies Bleeding (“pop rock meets the breathtaking athleticism of ballet,” performed by Alberta Ballet) and more, Houston Ballet offers a range of work from emerging and established chorographers. Houston Ballet performances take place at the renowned Wortham Theater Center in downtown Houston.
