Explore New Trails of History

The new year offers new opportunities to explore Boston's Freedom Trail®. There's an array of activities and exhibits for children, history buffs and visitors to celebrate Black History Month and Women's History Month, while exploring more chapters of the United States' story along two special walking tours.

Freedom Trail Foundation's acclaimed African-American Patriots Tours will return in February, providing opportunities for visitors to view history through the eyes of revolutionary figures such as Crispus Attucks, Phillis Wheatley, Prince Hall, Peter Salem and others. These tours celebrate the African-American patriots who played a vital role in the start of the American Revolution and the formation of the United States. African-American Patriots Tours will depart from the Boston Common Visitor Information Center on Saturdays and Sundays in February, at 12:45 p.m.

The Freedom Trail's newest tour experience, Revolutionary Women Tours, will give visitors an opportunity to discover four centuries of revolutionary women, their struggles for freedom and equality, and how they changed history. Revolutionary Women Tours will launch in March, departing from the Boston Common Visitor Information Center on Saturdays and Sundays ,at 12:45 p.m.

In addition to these new experiences, Boston's Freedom Trail will continue to offer visitors daily walking tours throughout the year, including the popular Walk Into History Tours. The official 90-minute Walk Into History Tours feature 11 of Boston's historic Freedom Trail sites whille offering tales of high treason, mob agitations, revolutionary actions and partisan fights. Tours are offered daily, year-round, from the Boston Common Visitor Information Center.

Freedom Trail Foundation tours are led by 18th-century-costumed guides and complement exciting activities and exhibits along the Freedom Trail.
