The Washington Ballet
A True D.C. Tradition
Under the artistic direction of globally acclaimed ballerina Julie Kent, the Washington Ballet is celebrating its Diamond 75th Anniversary with its boldest season yet—featuring company and world premieres, 20th-century masterworks and 19th-century classics. The company’s well-loved Americana-styled production of The Nutcracker also continues to delight audiences in the nation’s capital.
As groups enter the majestic Warner Theatre, they’ll be transported to an all-immersive winter wonderland and welcomed to historic Georgetown by notable historic figures including George Washington as the heroic Nutcracker, Frederick Douglass, John Paul Jones and Harriet Tubman. Set to Tchaikovsky’s magical score, The Nutcracker comes to life with intricate, stunning set designs, original period costumes, and over 100 dancers— including students and trainees from The Washington School of Ballet.
With over 40 performances throughout November and December, groups have plenty of chances to admire and appreciate this charming iteration of a holiday classic. Groups looking for a custom-tailored experience can arrange a backstage tour, pre-show talks, post-show celebrations and more.
