When  the Buffalo Bill Museum at the Buffalo Bill Historical Center reopens May 19 in Cody, Wyoming, following a $2.75 million renovation and reinstallation, it will be showcasing the life and times of that classic Western character, Colonel William Frederick Cody, using some of the same techniques  that the master himself used to engage his audiences 140 years ago. Those include  liberal use of special effects and mass audience appeal.

Day One:
Spend the first full day following the first land battles of the Civil War, and don't forget to use imagination. The hotels and restaurants that occupy the town now were wilderness and battlefields during the Civil War, but fight preparations did in fact take place in Elkins. At the Rich Mountain Battlefield, found along the Staunton-Parkersburg Turnpike, gravel roads and vegetation get groups into the spirit. Like Union soldiers trudging single-file to maneuver around the Confederate troops, tour the grounds that were once littered with clouds, rain, and cannon fire.
