Connecticut is offering up something sweet to travelers in 2012. The PEZ headquarters opened a new visitor's center in Orange dedicated to all things PEZ says Rena J. Calcaterra from the Connecticut Office of Tourism.

"It will house the largest, most comprehensive collection of PEZ dispensers and memorabilia in the world."

The exhibit will also include a factory store, viewing room and play area for children.

Connecticut is also celebrating the historical events in the state. The 150th anniversary of the war will be commemorated throughout 2012, and in 2013, the Connecticut State Parks will celebrate 100 years of existence.

"Several committees are working in activities and events associated with this celebration, many of which will be well suited to groups," Calcaterra says.

Connecticut is a prime group destination that offers a variety of activities in close proximity. Among the top spots for groups to visit in the state are those that offer themed tours or hands-on tours for travelers. The Goodspeed Opera House in East Haddam offers themed packages for groups, and for the left-brains of the group, the Connecticut Science Center in Hartford offers 150 hands-on exhibits.

"Groups receive early entry, have a convenient drop off area in front of the building and will have their own personal Bus Greeter," Calcaterra says.

Visit the Connecticut Office of Tourism or CVB  for more information on planning a group trip to the state.
